Randomized

As of right now I am watching Seinfeld. I've had an extremely lazy day and I really should be studying or doing something productive. But I won't.

So I really want to go on a cruise. Royal Caribbean has a new ship coming out next year that is absolutely amazing. And I want to be on it. I'm sure they do group specials....... Who else wants to go in on an amazing vacation?

Ugh... I really don't want to go to work tonight. Last night I had to close and I didn't get home until 11. We closed at 9:30, however, there's always those handful of couples that like to come in at 9:25 and then sit on the patio for an hour. At 10 I was pretty much finished, with only the patio that needed to be chained up before I could go. For 20 minutes I just had to wait, throwing hints at the 3 couples who were finished eating, with all their leftovers boxed up ready to go.

I hate closing.

So another debate tonight. Grrrreeeaaaattttt. I cannot wait for this election to be over. It's getting out of hand. Everything has gotten so polarized, and everyone so emotional. We let our politicians off the hook time after time. Our Congress refuses to act in our best interest. The bailout cost us billions, if not trillions. I have heard no reporting on any real policy changes, or changes in regulation. In this debate I want the candidates to tell me what they will do to make sure this doesn't happen again. Tell me what you're going to do about the corrupt politicians and businessmen who saw this happening years ago and did nothing to stop it. I want them to tell me why they, the candidates, didn't do anything about this crisis while they were in the Senate.
I want them to tell me what they will do about the education system
I want them to tell me if their presidential powers will continue to expand
I want them to tell me who they will put in their Cabinet
I want them to tell me if they will cut the size of government or let it continue to grow wildly
I want them to tell me what they will do about renewable energy
I want them to discuss illegal immigration
How will their administration get us off foreign oil
How will you create an environment of innovation in industries that desperately need it
How will you create jobs
How will you improve the United States' standing in the world
How have you worked across party lines
Do they care what others think of them
Do they plan to run for a second term if elected
Why are they running for President
What lengths will they go to defend freedom
What will they reform in government
What do they hope to achieve at the end of their first term
Who is the one person whose advice you value the most
When did they stand up for what was right

I apologize for the incessant babbling, I am just so sick of this political season and I'm looking forward to get my ballot and make my decision and be done with it all.

Story of my life, another chapter

So lets talk about today shall we? Well on Thursday I had to go to Gilbert for a MRI I had to get this morning. That went well, as MRI's go I guess. My doctor wanted to get one done so he can see what happened to my bad ear and whats going on with my good ear. Hopefully the good one isn't copying what the other one did, that's highly unlikely, but is always in the back of my mind. It would put a damper on things; but would clearly not be the end of the world for me. So we'll see.
So on the way back to Tucson my tire blows out. Now at first I get a little excited. I have this weird desire to experience disasters, like being stuck in an elevator or stranded on an island, just to see if I could survive. I was only upset because I only had about 25 more miles to go before I was home, safe and sound.
Anyways, I pull over on the shoulder and go about changing the tire. I call my dad and give him a heads up that a rather large bill will be coming his way after the tires have been replaced and an alignment has been made. So I get the busted tire off with little diffulculty and go to put the spare on. Now, I don't know any of the correct terminology but there were only 4 nuts for the tire and when I tried sliding the spare on I realized that I was trying to fit 5 holes into 4 screwthings. The rim of the spare was too big for my little car. I sink into a puddle of failure and I admit defeat and call AAA to yet again, rescue me. The time is 5:30.
Luckily I have all of my homework in the car and I start to get some of it done so I don't have to over the weekend. About a hour of doing homework and a savior appears, the tow truck to restore my faith in life. An old guy comes out and starts doing what needs to be done. He's a man of action, and not a fan of small talk. Every attempt to strike a conversation or help was shot down. Every command he did give was in an impatient tone, and every question needed only a sufficient answer with no elaboration. It was a quiet ride with Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton and other singers I have never heard before playing in the background. It's obvious this is his last assignment for the evening and cannot wait to get home. I feel like I should have apologized but felt that would be a silly thing, after all, it's not like I wanted this to happen or requested that he be the one to come get me.
I get dropped off at the nearest Pep Boys around 7:15 about 25 minutes away from home. This is where I wait again for another savior. This time in the form of Stacy Randl who selflessly agreed save me from the Pep Boys after everyone else in Tucson ignored my calls for help. (Thanks guys. Still waiting on those phone calls back.....) She gets lost, as I figured anyone would. Its the most obscure location they could have put an auto shop. Far from the main road and covered by trees. She somehow finds me at about 8:25.
I finally arrive at Apartment 111 by 9. I am not looking forward to tomorrow........

Here we go

So I sit here gearing up for the rest of the week. So far it's not like the whirlwind that was last week, which is somewhat disappointing. I've always felt this strange need to always be busy. If I'm not constantly submersed in something, be it school, work, friends, whatever, I feel like a waste of space. I'm begining to feel that now. School is still slow even though we've been at it for close to a month now, work has overtaken my weekend but has left my weekdays empty. I feel like I don't know my roommates and I spend my days trying to keep my mind away from camp.

Camp.

If you didn't hear, I spent my summer in Prescott working as a counselor at Friendly Pines Camp. It was wonderful wonderful experience and I met the most amazing people I have ever met in my entire life. However, it's left me messed up emotionally. The entire summer I was on the move. The second the sun was up and that wake up bell rang I was already ready to go and motivate kids to get up and be excited for the day, all with a cheery attitude. (which was by far THE hardest part) For the entire day I could never let my exhaustion or lack of excitement show, I always had to be there for a child who was homesick, bullied, or was being the bully. Even though I was absolutly sick of reassuring campers that their parents miss them more, and that we all need to be each others friends. I leapt up at meal time songs and encouraged campers that it really is fun to sing along if you put in the effort. Even though the last thing I wanted was to sing Little Cabin in the Woods and died a little inside everytime we sang Shoot the Moon.

Then, suddenly, it was over. Our 11 weeks was up and the kids left even quicker than they came, and we all parted ways. Some just minutes to where I live who I'm able to see on a semi-regular basis, and other thousands and thousands of miles away who I pray I will be able so see again.

In short, it was an amazing experience, like none I have ever had. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to make a difference. I felt like I really had an impact on some of those kids. I know that as a staff we did. And I will never forget the camper that sat next to me at our last Council Fire when it ended. He was in Smoki Cabin (so about 7 yr old), one of Curtis' boys; He leaned over to me and said that this was the best summer he ever had. It me there that even though you may think that what you are doing is insignifigant, or sometimes silly, you always are making a difference to someone. We just have to make sure that that difference is one of growth and life.

Home again....

I just returned from my weekend in California. I think it was the most fun I've had at Disneyland since I was a kid. (I think no one could have more fun at Disneyland than a 6 year old) We stayed in a hotel about a 15 minute walk to the park and spent two whole days there. It was a little much but we were able to do everything we wanted to do without running out of time.
Some highlights:
-The Aladin show at California Adventure. Soo good.
-The Haunted Manison with Ammie and Marcus with about 5 other people. I've never been so freaked out in the little waiting room before. Much scarier when it's empty.
-Getting stuck on the Hollywood Tower of Terror with Ammie and Marcus, again, for about 20 minutes. We pretty much just had to sit there as the seatbelts were locked and chatted with the other victims. We tried to get everyone to tell an outrageous story that involved them. Marcus was the only one that shared. It was a fun crowd.
-Dinner at the Blue Bayou
-Hearing some staff sing Happy Birthday to Marcus and seeing the staff stop him everywhere to wish him a Happy Birthday
-and reliving every camp story

It was a very successful trip and I'm glad i did it.

School's tomorrow and I don't want to go. I still haven't bought any books and I need two in the morning. ugh... I hate buying books. At least I have my easy day tomorrow: Philosophy and Sign Language. Mondays and Wednesdays are going to be beasts: Economics and Math...... We'll see how that goes.

And in the begining

So I decided that today I would start a blog. Most of my friends are doing it as well as some family members. Though I am not somewhere exotic like Bulgaria or India, I will attempt to portray what life for me is like in the outrageous town of Tucson, AZ.

I just barely started my second year of expensive education. I'm still at Pima Community College after my try at the University of Arizona. Classes so far have been going well, after the introductions I've found that my Philosophy professor is a less hairy version of Robin Williams, and my Math teacher is one of those teacher who likes to let you know where they stand on political issues. I don't care what you think about an issue, whether or not I agree with you I just want you to teach me math. That's all. I'm in a new apartment building with three other guys. So far we've all gotten along. No headbutting..... yet.

Well, I need to get the rest of my day over with, I still need to pack for the weekend. I will be at Disneyland if any of you need me. Be jealous.
